As HC Red Ice announces, they have signed Alain Birbaum to a two-year contract. The former HC Ambrì-Piotta defenseman will thus stay in Martigny until the end of the 2017-18 season.

The 30-year-old's future has been up in the air for quite a while, but he had confirmed that he was in talks with Red Ice in April. The discussions have now ended successfully. In 54 games for the Biancoblù last season, he scored one goal and ten assists.

As for the rest of the roster, team manager Albert Malgin states that their defense is now complete. However, offensively, they are still searching for two forwards (one Swiss and one import player), but "the name of the import player might be announced fairly soon." (mso)
