According to the CHL Sports Board, Scherwey had to be suspended, as he elevated into the hit against his opponent from HC Kosice, the principle contact was the head area and, moreover, the contact to the head was avoidable.

As he is not yet a repeat offender in the CHL, his suspension was limited to one game. SC Bern will thus have to make do without him in the game against  EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz. The entire incident can be watched here.
