As Fehérvár AV19 announces, Benoît Laporte signed a one-year-contract as the head coach of the Hungarians. Laporte was head coach of the SCL Tigers this past season but was replaced by Scott Beattie in March.

The French-Canadian, who has also coached HC Ambrì-Piotta between 2009 and 2011, spent the most time of his coaching career in Germany, where he was head coach of the Hamburg Freezers for five years. However, it is the first job in the EBEL for the 56-year-old. "I am looking forward to this new challenge," Laporte said. (mfa)
