The 29-year-old American has spent the majority of his career in the American Hockey League, where he played for the Binghamton Senators (farm team of the Ottawa Senators) and the Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins).

Hennessy has already played in the National League A with HC Lugano back in the 2010/11 season, where he put up 19 points in 36 games. This season, he has scored eight points in 19 games for the Vityaz Podolsk in the KHL.
