NLA -  Even though there have been rumors that Romain Loeffel will join EV Zug next season, Genève-Servette HC has now announced that the defenseman will definitely stay with the team.

The 23-year-old defenseman had been traded to GSHC from HC Fribourg-Gottéron in exchange for Jérémie Kamerzin and John Fritsche at the end of January. However, since then the discussions of the validity of this exchange have been running high.

GSHC confirms now that the transaction is indeed valid and that Loeffel will be part of the team at least until 2015. They also emphasize in their statement that "despite his knee injury, Romain is an integral part of the team and has been present with his teammates for each game since his injury."

Furthermore, head coach Chris McSorley is pleased that they were able to finally resolve the issue: "We are pleased to have put an end to lingering doubts about the future of Romain Loeffel. In the two games he played with us before his injury, we have been fully satisfied with his performance and we are happy that he stays with us next season."
