Aebischer would be taking over from Sylvain Rodrigue, who will leave the Dragons after this season to focus more on his work as consultant for the Edmonton Oilers and thus no longer work in Europe.

Aebischer had announced his retirement from professional hockey earlier this month, saying he wants to concentrate on training young goalies. In his career, the 37-year-old has appeared in 227 NHL-games and played 312 times in the National League A. (lcu)

UPDATE HC Fribourg-Gottéron has confirmed the signing of David Aebischer to a two-year deal as their new goaltending head coach for the NLA squad and HCFG's junior organisation. The 37-year-old will start working with immediate effect in collaboration with current coach Rodrigue.  - 5 February 2015, 2:32 PM
