While he had considered his option over the course of the summer, Louis Leblanc has now made his decision: He has decided to hang his skates up and retire from professional hockey.

As he tells La Presse, he will now return to Harvard University and get a degree. He says that he has not lost his passion for hockey and he would have had options to continue his career, "but one more year in Austria or elsewhere would not advance me. Returning to school will do so".

25-year-old Leblanc is a former first round pick of the Montreal Canadiens and played in 50 games for them, scoring five goals and five assists. Last season, he appeared in 10 games for Lausanne HC, putting up four goals and one assist. (mso)
