After having learned on Friday that his option for an additional season with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds won't be activated, Michael Neininger still hopes to get a new contract, as he tells L'Express-L'Impartial.

"I hope they will reconsider their decision," the 38-year-old forward told the media after scoring two goals in last Saturday's game against EHC Visp. On Saturday, the same source speculated that if he was not able to get a new contract with HCC, he might coach St. Imier alongside his father Tony.

Neininger is currently in his 20th professional season and his 14th term with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Over the course of his career, he has played more than 1000 NLB games. This season thus far, he has scored 19 goals and 19 assists for a total of 38 points in 44 games. (bsc)
